The Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited (ICBL) has stepped up to sponsor the Barbados Senior Cricket team.
In a deal which is initially for one year but is set to be a long-lasting partnership between the two entities, the two parties signed the contract at ICBL’s corporate suite at Kensington Oval on Monday.
“Our view of this partnership is not a short-sighted one,” said the deputy CEO of ICBL, Goulbourne Alleyne, after the signing ceremony was over.
Alleyne said that as a proud Barbadian company and this island’s leading insurance company, their main focus has always been protecting the interest of Barbadians and providing them with the backing and support they require to be successful.
The partnership with the Barbados Pride places them in that position and gives them the opportunity to work with groups of young future players with the aim of assisting them to develop not only as cricketers but also as well-rounded and successful individuals off the field.
CEO of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA), Noel Lynch, said the sponsorship was the first step on their road to success in the upcoming Regional Season.
Chairman of the franchise, Conde Riley, offered apologies for some of the missing members of the Barbados Pride team as they were preparing for West Indies duties, before introducing those members that were present.
He also highlighted some of the accolades of the team throughout the past four years as well as the players rising to the top tier of representing the West Indies at the international level.
